Important Message about Tuesday, September 2, 2014 -- School Openings
September 1, 2014 11:37 AM
Dear Parents and Guardians
It is known at this time that the BCTF and BCPSEA have not reached an agreement on a negotiated settlement. The District has been advised that there will continue to be pickets at all schools in the Comox Valley on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
The District is advising parents/guardians and students that all schools in the SD71 Comox Valley will be closed on Tuesday, September 2nd and will remain closed if similar job action continues.
Parents are reminded that the Ministry is providing some funding for childcare arrangements and that information can be found by accessing http://bcparentinfo.ca/parent-support-resources/. There are also many community recreation groups providing activities for youth. Parents are encouraged to contact their local recreational organizations. Contact information is provided below.
We will continue to update parents/guardians and students as much as possible as information becomes available. We will continue to post new information on this website and will also be reporting when schools open on our local radio stations.
Superintendent of Schools
We will be looking into activities being offered in the Hornby Community as well.
